HMRC has been able to move up the expected timescale for claims under the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS.)

They are now starting to contact those who qualify, and aim to have contacted them on how to proceed with a claim, within the next few weeks.

Eligible people will have to confirm claim details online through a Government Gateway account from later this week, 13th May, and also provide their bank details.

If you do not already have a Government Gateway account login (useful for obtaining state pension forecasts, etc.) it would be recommended to sign up for one now to save time.

The grant payments are then aimed to be issued within 6 working days from the date the claim is submitted.

HMRC will be contacting those who qualify, without any links in the email, so if you receive an email with links it should be regarding as fake.

Instead, HMRC advise you to search for ‘Self-Employment Income Support Scheme‘ on GOV.UK
