Of course you wouldn’t, which is why the management teams for the business networking groups I am involved with receive ‘leadership development training’ before taking up their role.
The leadership teams change every six months so it is a regular occurrence. In September 2012 I was again involved in helping train the new leadership teams.
For this training, I was covering the roles of Secretary Treasurer and Power Team Co-ordinator.
The Secretary Treasurer(S/T) manages the finances of the groups, as well as other important aspects of the role. I became a S/T myself within a few months of first joining my first networking group, so have had first hand experience of the role. I trained the incoming S/T’s so that they were familiar with their role.
I also trained the Power Team coordinators, an important role as Power Teams are one of the key aspects of the networking groups. Power Teams are a group of businesses in similar professions, who work together to promote each other.
The training received good feedback from members, it is constantly evolving and it is surprising how quick the next trainings come around.
